Social Isolation And How It Transforms The Brain
posted on May 17, 2018
A paper published in the famous journal Cell published by researchers at the California Institue of Technology revealed that chronic social isolation can have a negative impact on mental health in humans. The research found that chronic social isolation is linked to depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The isolation causes the accumulation of a brain chemical that causes mental health problems. Blocking the production of that chemical can mitigate the negative effects of social isolation. These findings give hope that in the future, we will be able to use this new-found knowledge in treating mental health problems in humans.

Fasting Can Boost Stem Cells' Regeneration
As people age, the rate at which stem cells regenerate decline drastically. However, new research from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology revealed that, in mice, fasting for a 24-hour period can improve the regeneration rate of stem cells in young and old mice. The regeneration of stem cells is important to the addition of new cells to the intestines, which allows the body to combat gastrointestinal infections and other conditions. This research has not yet been tested on humans, but this gives hope for future medication for stem cell regeneration. You can read more details on this, you can read this...
