How do I support someone going through withdrawals after quitting smoking?

Are there any tips for someone experiencing mood swings/headaches/lack of energy after quitting smoking? Also, is there a difference in how long withdrawal symptoms last based on how long you’ve been smoking (i.e. someone smoking sporadically trying to wean themselves off of cigarettes by reducing the amount consumed per day vs. someone using nicotine supplements)?
