Blended Families - Family Life

Families come in many forms, with many different dynamics. The traditional idea of a family, for many, is changing into a more modern idea of what brings people together. The 2011 Canadian Census on families and living arrangements found that step-families account for about 1 in 8 coupled families with children. A blended family occurs when at least one, or both partners in a marriage already have children from a previous relationship, plus those two partners also have at least one child together. Whatever the arrangement, the love and reward of a blended family can be wonderful, but it can also present challenges. Are you looking for advice on how to be better accepted by your step-child/children? Are you and your partner arguing over differing parenting styles - are they disciplining your child differently than you do? Are you and your spouse considering a child together, but you aren’t sure how it will affect your children? Perhaps your children are having trouble accepting a new baby into the family, or questioning their role now that a new child has arrived. Whatever your question or concern, we have the experts and resources you need to help navigate the potential challenges of a blended family.
